The benefits of SEO are almost unlimited. If done correctly, you can greatly improve your chances of being listed on or near the front page of the search results for those important keywords and/or keyword phrases related to your business.

2. Pay per click advertising or PPC
There are a whole host of other pay-per-click and cost per click web sites that operate on the same basic advertising and marketing principles mentioned above. All basic pay per click (PPC) advertising strategies usually direct web traffic from some type of search engine or directory when a user does a search. Here are a few additional pay per click advertising sites that are recommended and may be well worth some of your attention.

3. Email advertising
Email marketing (a.k.a. bulk emailing software) is a type of internet marketing that uses email software to enable you to manage your email lists and send out many email messages at once. Email software can be installed either on your site's server or your PC or it can be hosted elsewhere on the web.

Handling your business communications and bulk emailing needs by utilizing emailing software saves you time because you are able to manage your email list without hands-on, manual maintenance. Imagine having thousands of subscribers for your email campaigns and having to manage all those by hand!

4. Pop under and pop-up advertising
Pop-under ads are used in online advertising to grab the attention of a visitor while they are viewing a web site or when they leave a site. Advertisers often use pop-ads as a way to target their ad campaigns and generate valid click-through to their web site at a low cost.

Pop-ups Explained Pop-up ads are browser windows that "pop up" when someone is viewing certain web sites. If you pay for a pop-up ad campaign, your ad will appear on many different web sites. This pop-up advertising can be targeted or un-targeted pop-ads depending on where you buy them.

Example: You purchase 10,000 pop-ads through a pop-up or pop-under advertising service. You can create a separate ad for this pop-up ad OR you can use your existing web site page. Your existing web site can be set to trigger to "pop-up" and appear to web visitors when they are visiting those participating sites that have placed certain java or html pop-ad coding on their web sites. When someone visits that particular web site they will see your ad or web site when it pops up on the screen in their web browser. Those visitors can do one of two things - click on your ad or close the window.

Your campaign runs until you've received the number of pop-ups or pop-under that you purchased.

Pop-under explained another ad similar to a pop-up ad is a pop-under ad. It works the same way as a pop-up ad except that the pop-under window will appear underneath the main existing browser window that the web visitor is viewing. Web Visitors will not see the pop-under ad until they close the main window or minimize it.

Pop-under are more discreet and are not as annoying to many web surfers, so some advertisers are choosing this route instead of pop-ups.

5. Banner advertising
Banner advertising is a method of online advertising where a graphical ad or banner image is placed on a Web site to generate impressions and clicks for the advertiser. Many Web site owners sell banner ad space to advertisers in order to generate additional revenue for their online business.

Banner ads are similar to text ads except that banners and banner ads are actually Internet images, usually designed in a ".gif" or ".jpg" format. When you place a banner on a web site, visitors who click on the banner are actually clicking on an image, not a text link. You can create banner ads using a graphic design program (there are many programs available on the internet to help you with this) but be sure to create your banners according to the specifications of the site owner where your banner ads will be displayed.

Example: If the available ad space measures 150 pixels in length by 40 pixels in height, then your banner should have the same measurements for proper display. Otherwise, it will look distorted. The most common or standard banner size is the 468 * 60 size (and under 25k in size) that represents a rectangle banner shape. See below for an example of a standard banner size.

6. Content articles ads
Content article advertising is a promotion technique that utilizes informative written content articles that carry a link at the bottom of them to help bring targeted web site visitors to a web site. Providing content and articles are valuable online marketing tools because most surfers are looking for free information. When you provide that information, you can maximize the number of visitors who come to your site through the search engines and other areas of the web. Therefore content article advertising is an important form of search engine marketing but its value can extend way beyond search engines.

7. Press release distribution to the media
Press release marketing is a form of promotion that can help your business gain free publicity through the news media. Here's how it works. You develop an interesting story about your business and submit your story to thousands of targeted newspapers, radio stations, TV stations, online news portals, magazines, etc. Some of these media contacts may find your story interesting and newsworthy to their audiences and decide to publish it, giving you free publicity for your business, website or cause.

8. Links from other web pages and blogs
Link marketing is an online promotion technique in which web sites link to one another to build link popularity with visitors and to help with major search engine rankings. One thing the search engines look for in a web site when determining how and where to rank it is, how popular the site is with other related web sites. Links are a measure of that popularity. Therefore, link marketing and promotion has become widespread among business owners over the past few years.

9. Web traffic exchanges
Web traffic exchanges are a form of web site promotion where members form a network of web sites within the exchange. All web traffic exchange members are able to earn surf credits to bring visitors to their web site by visiting other member's web sites. As a result, members of web traffic exchanges tend to get a lot of targeted visitors to their web site. Web traffic exchanges provide a free or inexpensive way to gain targeted visitors when advertising budgets are limited.
